BODEGÓN EL VILLAR

a crest for a roast lamb house in laguna de duero, drawn from the things that are already inside it.

Client: Bodegón El Villar
Role: Logo, brand applications
Category: Identity
Year: 2026

a madrid tavern shield, one ink only. nothing is decoration: the crown is the brick arch of the wood oven with its flame, the wreath is holm oak with acorns, the wood that roasts the lamb.

inside the shield, two legs of lechazo cross and draw the v of villar. it took six rounds to get there, from a tangle of bones to two clean cuts.

the lettering is a spurred tuscan, the kind painted on tavern signs in the nineteenth century. one shield, many ways to sign: vertical, horizontal, seal, isotipo, from the facade down to a 40 pixel avatar.

four grounds and never more than one ink: wine on bone, bone on wine, old gold on black, black on linen for the ticket and the rubber stamp.

The Bodegón El Villar crest in bone white on a near-black background: flame, brick arch, oak leaves and a shield with two legs of lamb, above the name in tuscan lettering — a crest for a tavern

Six iterations of the El Villar crest side by side, v1 to v6, showing the legs of lamb inside the shield simplifying into a V — v1 to v6

one shield, many ways to sign

The crest in four one-ink colourways: wine on bone, bone on wine, gold on black and black on linen — one ink, four grounds
